Welcome back to a brand new year here at Penguin Teacher Academy. Of course, you are all supposed to be relaxing and enjoying your well-earned break for school holidays, but we know many of you are already firing up your laptops and beginning to plan for the first Term of 2013. With that in mind, we thought our first post for the year should give you an indication of what you can and should expect from Penguin Teachers’ in the year ahead.

RESOURCES – As well as keeping you up to date with all of our new title releases, author and illustrator news, teaching notes and book trailers, we will be focusing on sharing more multi modal texts with you whenever possible this year. Penguin Australia has its own channel on YouTube featuring book trailers, author interviews, footage from festivals and events and mini documentaries. With new content being added regularly it’s well worth taking a look to see what you can find to use in your classrooms and libraries. We will continue to provide you with teaching notes and units of work for novels and picture books, suitable for use in your classrooms and libraries and pre existing units and notes can be located on our Education Centre site.

INFORMATION AND LINKS – Join us on Twitter @PenguinTeachers where we share links and websites, posts and resources from our professional learning network. Our quarterly magazine for teachers, librarians and educators (and anybody who wants to read it really) Off The Shelf – can be found online on Issuu, with our latest edition featuring some great articles for your holiday reading pleasure. Our next edition will be out February/March so stay tuned to this space for notification.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – We will be bringing you a fantastic program of Professional Development, tailored with your specific needs in mind and giving you access to great presenters, authors and illustrators. Again, stay tuned to this site for the Penguin Teacher Academy program for semester 1, coming soon.

We are also very interested in your feedback. What would you like us to provide for your professional learning needs? What can we be doing for you to make your teaching easier? leave a comment on this post and we will answer you.
